Angel-on-the-Green

London Borough of Islington, N1

A development of 97 lavish apartments, 35000 sq ft of retail and leisure space, set around a new urban square with car parking under, all accessible to Islington Green. A locally listed existing 19th century house was also incorporated and converted into three flats.

This sensitive and important town centre site, a former timber yard, was a major development which the practice successfully designed and negotiated through the planning process. The proposals draw on the typical squares of the area in an interpretive style. The practice carried the project through to detail and construction and was also responsible for the landscaping. The scheme has been both an architectural and commercial success.
