Kensington House Refurbishment, W8

Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, W8

Our brief for this house refurbishment bucked the current trend in that our client wished to restore period elegance to this Victorian house after it had undergone an unsatisfactory carve-up of its internal spaces and stripping out of its period style by previous owners.

In addition to transforming this house to an elegant family home, we extracted maximum potential by replacing an existing utilitarian conservatory with an elegant infill extension to form a study and media room and formed a small gallery within the butterfly roof at the top of the staircase, discretely accessed from the master bedroom, serving as a quiet office, away from the hustle and bustle of the house.

Key to the transformation exercise was the replacement and redesign of the staircase, which redefined the spaces accessed from it at all levels.

Works were completed in 2010.
